Courage is not seen in the absence of fear but rather it is only realized in spite of it. I remember walking into my high school English class seeing a quote, “ Cowards die many times before their death; the valiant never taste of death but once.” At the time I did not understand how powerful of a statement that was. However, looking back it is one of the truest statements in life. Every time you choose cowardice instead of courage you die a little on the inside. You are forced to live with the regret everyday of your life that you were too weak at that point to overcome fear. To overcome a thought in your mind about an outcome that may or may not happen in the future. To overcome something that doesn’t exist!
Now we have the choice in life to be great or be mediocre. If you want to be mediocre, just stay in your comfort zone. Stay in the land of familiar, where you know everyone, where you know all the familiar places, where you know what to expect, mediocrity. Now if you want greatness, there is only one place to find it, outside of your comfort zone. Now most would say they want a great life, they want a great job, they want a great spouse, they want great health but what separates mediocre from greatness is a wall of fear.
As a result, we let fear decide our future. Think about that for a moment, what are you allowing fear to decide in your future? What is it that you want to do? What is it that you feel like you were put here to do? What would you do if you knew that you would not fail? Then why are you not doing it? Remember, everyday that passes that you are letting fear dictate how you live, you are dying inside. Now the best part is that you don’t have to be a coward all your life! You can choose something else! You can choose to be courageous! You can choose greatness! “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.” Now its up to you to decide how you want to live. You are either going to be living your dreams or living your fears? Which do you want to live?
